On today’s edition of GaMetal Does Uncommonly Remixed Songs (G-DURS for short), we take a trip to Oil Ocean Zone from Sonic 2. This is actually a request fulfillment for my wife who has been asking me to do a song for her for quite a while, so this is her late valentines day gift.

When I first heard the song (or well, reheard, since it’s been a while since I played Sonic 2), I didn’t think much could be done with it. Then that thing happened where it got stuck in my head and I had no choice but to do it. Much like Sandopolis Zone, this is a more laid back song than usual. They also share a middle-eastern/Egyptian feel.

This song makes me think of the Super Mario Land Underground Theme. Maybe we can get to that one sometime this year.
